The excitement felt by both the audience and cast members of Livingston Community Players (LCP) as the curtain rises is a uniquely thrilling experience. To watch a live performance or take part in one is a refreshing change from passively viewing television or spending time on the Internet. LCP is a theater group that provides the atmosphere and talent of Broadway quality entertainment at a fraction of the cost right in our own community.
Our first production in 2003 was the beloved and wildly successful show Annie. This was followed by a string of hits, Oliver, Sound of Music, King & I, in which many of the Township’s adults and young people became involved. We have been particularly successful in recruiting on-stage and backstage talent from local schools and adult community members. In spite of the generous financial assistance that we receive from the the Arts Council of Livingston and Essex County in the form of grants, support by local business and individual patrons, LCP just about breaks even on our productions, which cost around $30,000 each year!
We would like to extend an invitation to all those interested in theater to join us, whether auditioning, participating in the backstage or production efforts. If volunteering in our productions isn’t your cup of tea, then please, come, relax and sit back and enjoy the show. We are looking forward to seeing you in the audience!
